Thermador is the appliance line builders reach for in South OC's newer developments — Professional Series ranges, Freedom induction cooktops, Freedom Collection refrigeration columns. We know the platform, not just the brand name. Same-day diagnosis across Orange County.
Every current and legacy residential line, in your home, same-day when possible
30" to 48" pro ranges and rangetops. Igniters that keep clicking, burners that won't light, ovens that won't hold temperature, self-clean door locks that won't release.
Full-surface induction with the floating "wireless" pan detection. Zone error codes, cracked glass, generator boards, and pans that stop being recognized mid-cook.
Single and paired refrigerator/freezer columns common in newer OC construction. Sealed-system and compressor failures, ice maker faults, evaporator fan noise, temperature drift.
Steam-assist and combi-steam wall ovens — water reservoir and fill-line faults, steam generator descaling, door seal leaks, error codes on the display.
Emerald and Sapphire series with automatic Star Sense soil detection. Turbidity sensor faults, drain pump failures, cycles that run long or never finish.
Built-in warming drawers that run cold and microwave-convection speed ovens that stopped heating.
On a Freedom Induction cooktop, each zone has its own generator board under the glass that talks to a sensor array detecting pan size and position. If one zone stops recognizing cookware while the others work fine, that zone's generator or sensor ribbon has failed — not a cooktop-wide problem, and not something a factory reset fixes. If every zone throws the same code, check for a hairline crack in the glass first; even a crack you can't see edge-on will trip the ceramic-glass safety sensor and lock out that section. We test with a known-good induction pan before opening anything up, because a surprising number of "broken cooktop" calls turn out to be incompatible cookware.
Same underlying architecture as other pro-style gas ranges: a shared spark module feeds all the igniters, and the burner valve switches are wired in parallel. Moisture in one igniter after a boil-over, a worn spark electrode, or one sticking switch can make every burner on the range click at once — which is why generalist techs sometimes replace parts that were never the problem. We isolate which switch or igniter is actually faulted before ordering anything.
Freedom Collection columns use a sealed refrigeration system tucked behind the lower kick panel, and it's tighter and harder to service than a standard freestanding fridge — which is also why so few shops in OC will take the call. Warm temps with the compressor running nonstop usually trace to a low refrigerant charge (a slow leak, not a dramatic one) or a failing condenser fan; warm temps with the compressor not running point to a start relay or control board. Ice maker faults are usually the water inlet valve or the module itself, not the column's cooling system.
Steam and combi-steam ovens build scale in the steam generator over time, especially on OC's harder tap water. A persistent water-fill error is often just an overdue descale cycle; if descaling doesn't clear it, the fill valve or water level sensor has usually failed. Door seal leaks show up as visible steam escaping and a cycle that won't finish on time.
Thermador is part of BSH Home Appliances, the same parent company behind Bosch and Gaggenau. If your kitchen pairs a Thermador range with a Sub-Zero, Viking, or Dacor from a remodel, we service all of it in one visit — see all brands we service.
A Thermador range or cooktop runs $3,000–$9,000, and most failures we see — igniter switches, generator boards, control panels — are a few hundred dollars to fix. The math is even more lopsided for built-in refrigeration: a Freedom Collection column costs $8,000–$20,000+ installed once cabinetry and panel work are included, so even a full compressor and sealed-system repair is a small fraction of tearing one out and replacing it. Thermador (BSH) supports parts for its platforms for well over a decade, which is why repair is almost always the right call for these appliances.
Most Thermador repairs run $200–$800 depending on the appliance and failure — igniter switches and sensor replacements on the lower end; refrigeration sealed-system and induction cooktop board work on the higher end. $95 diagnostic, waived when you proceed with the repair, with an upfront quote before any work starts.
Usually a failed pan-sensor or generator board for that specific zone, or a hairline crack in the glass tripping the safety sensor. Test with a known-good induction pan first — cookware compatibility is a common false alarm.
Almost always yes. Ranges and cooktops repair for a few hundred dollars against a $3,000–$9,000 appliance, and a refrigeration column repair is a small fraction of the $8,000–$20,000+ cost to replace one installed.
